Northeastern University built the Go&Grow app as a Free app. This SYSTEM is provided by Northeastern University at no cost as part of a research study. The use of this SYSTEM is voluntary and participants of this study may stop their participation at any time.
The use of the SYSTEM by adult caregivers requires (1) the caregiver’s written consent as mandated by Northeastern University’s Institutional Review Board (protocol #17-01-02). If you are aware of individuals who have used the SYSTEM without providing written consent, please contact us so that we will be able to take necessary actions.
Information Collection and Privacy
The SYSTEM will collect your personal data during your participation in the study. We will use this information to enhance your experience with the SYSTEM and to understand how technology can help caregivers be physically active.
The SYSTEM will capture and store the following Data: (1) your physical activity data captured from wearable devices, (2) information about how you use the SYSTEM (including all features you use in the app such as stories you write, buttons you press, your likes and replies to stories, and exercise logs), (3) your smartphone’s geo-location. The Data collection will begin at the start of your study participation and end at the conclusion of your study participation.
These Data will be anonymized and will not be linked to your personally identifiable information such as your name, address, or phone number. The Data will be stored in password-protected computers and secure computer servers. Access to these Data will be limited to you and research staff under the aforementioned Institutional Review Board protocol.

The app does use third-party services that may collect information used to identify you. Below, please find links to privacy policies for the third party service providers used by the app:
We want to inform you that whenever you use our SYSTEM, in a case of an error in the app we collect data and information (through third-party products) on your phone called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing our SYSTEM, the time and date of your use of the SYSTEM, and other statistics.
We may employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:
- To facilitate our SYSTEM;
- To provide the Service on our behalf;
- To perform Service-related services; or
- To assist us in analyzing how our SYSTEM is used.
We want to inform users of this SYSTEM that these third parties have access to your Personal Information. The reason is to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose.
We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
